GoDaddy's builder is fine for getting something online in an afternoon. It becomes a problem when the business grows past it — limited layouts, thin SEO controls, and a site that looks like the template it came from. Here's how the move works.
One thing to be clear about up front: there's no importer for this. GoDaddy's builder doesn't export in a form anything else can read, so the site is rebuilt rather than transferred. In practice that matters less than it sounds — these sites are usually small, and rebuilding is often what the business needed anyway.
The three things people worry about
The domain
Most GoDaddy builder customers also registered their domain there. It stays yours. It can either be transferred to Wix or left at GoDaddy and pointed at the new site — both work, and I'll recommend based on what else you have there.
The email
This is the one that causes real anxiety, because GoDaddy often bundles email with the plan. It keeps working, but the settings need handling carefully so nothing stops arriving mid-move. I do that as part of the job.
The rankings
Your pages get new addresses, so every old one needs a redirect pointing at its new home. Without them Google treats your old pages as gone.
Watch what you cancel
GoDaddy bundles hosting, domain, email and the website builder in ways that aren't always obvious from the invoice. Cancelling the wrong line can take your email with it. Don't cancel anything until the new site is live and confirmed working — and when you do, cancel the builder plan specifically rather than the whole account.

Can my GoDaddy site be imported automatically?
No. There's no export from the builder that another platform can read, so the site is rebuilt. Your content and images come across; the design is recreated.
Will my email break?
Not if it's handled properly. Email is routed separately from your website, and I make the change deliberately so nothing stops arriving.
Should I move my domain to Wix or leave it?
